FDIH E-Commerce Award
2018-08-20
Last week, the annual Danish e-Commerce Awards took place. It was a spectacular show with applause and celebrations for quality nominees and winners.
As true underdogs, Venue Manager rose to the challenge and snatched the award for ‘Best e-Commerce Case’. It happened under the noses of strong nominees such as Molslinjen, Danbolig, Imerco and Hørkam.
With the Danish Minister for Business in attendance, Venue Manager proudly took to the stage in Øksnehallen, Copenhagen. Here they received the award for ‘Best e-Commerce Case 2018’, for the collaborative work with the Danish Superliga football club AGF Aarhus.
Venue Manager was chosen as the Winner among a strong field of great e-commerce providers from across all business sectors in Denmark.
“Venue Manager and AGF have created a successful platform where purchasing experiences, services and physical goods have been linked in a true winning formula’. The new approach has secured extensive knowledge of their fanbase, increased attendance by 12% and boosted sales of merchandise significantly. Simultaneously, time spent on administrative tasks have been greatly reduced and instead been used to servicing sponsors and fans to improve their experience. The collaboration between Venue Manager and AGF is a worthy winner and they can now add the ‘Best e-Commerce Case 2018’ to their trophy cabinet.”

About the case
The e-commerce solution gathers the club’s entire business such as its webshop, ticket sales, merchandise, hospitality, etc., into one single digital platform – the first of its kind in Denmark.
From here it offers ticket sales, season tickets, merchandise, F&B, subscriptions, unique sponsor opportunities etc., in one single transaction. With all data on one user-friendly system, this solution unlocks vast opportunities and enables unrivalled up-selling and cross-selling, while the spectator receives an outstanding digital shopping experience.
But that’s not all; All additional purchases are automatically added to the spectator’s ticket or season ticket. Which is stored digitally on the club’s own uniquely designed Venue Manager app. The digital ticket is scanned before entry to the stadium and any prepaid F&B stored on the ticket can be collected at one of the integrated cash registers. Going digital means the spectator only needs to bring his or her smartphone. With that they can proceed through access control and to collect any prepaid F&B. F&B can even be collected via quick and simple ‘swipe’ collections. Cash and credit cards are no longer needed and queues are eliminated.
”It’s exciting to work with AGF. They’re innovative and dare to try new ideas to create an even better experience for their spectators. We’re delighted to have helped AGF carry out and implement new ideas and to see them reap the benefits. I sincerely hope that all other professional sports clubs will soon find out how much is possible with a modern e-commerce solution”
– Peter Richardt, Business Director Venue Manager
The solution from Venue Manager has already been implemented in more than fifteen professional sports clubs. This includes football, handball and ice hockey clubs across both Denmark an Germany.
